KEVIN DEPREE

Based in Los Angeles but originally from Holland, Michigan, Composer Kevin DePree began his career in the music industry as a drummer, playing professionally by his teenage years.

DePree is renowned for having an ear for creating unique effects in his music. He achieves this by constantly pushing the boundaries of sound and experimenting with unusual items to bring originality to every score. His unique ability to turn these unconventional concepts into musical ideas, combined with his trademark heartbeat of driving drums, gives his music a truly timeless yet contemporary dimension.

DePree’s composing credits include themes and scores for award-winning true crime podcasts Who Killed Daphne and Metro Men (Wondery Media). In collaboration with West One Music, he has written for several custom score projects, including Morgan Freeman’s 761st Tank Battalion: The Original Black Panthers and Casey Anthony’s Parents: The Lie Detector Test. DePree’s music is on several West One Music Group labels, Reel to Reel, Sonic Station, and The Scoring House.

DePree has contributed as a live drummer, percussionist, programmer, bassist, guitarist, and sound engineer on Race to the Summit (Netflix), Mavericks (PBS), Meerkat Manor: Rise of the Dynasty (BBC America, AMC+), Spotlight on The Troubles (BBC UK), and Narco Wars (National Geographic). He is using all these experiences to perfect his craft as a composer.
