MAURICIO VENEGAS-ASTORGA

Mauricio Venegas-Astorga is a Chilean artist and one of the most prominent Latin American figures in music, composition, and cultural activity in the UK. As a performer, composer, and producer, he has worked through the group Quimantú, creating over 40 albums for diverse projects. Venegas-Astorga has collaborated with iconic composers like Sir Paul McCartney, Ennio Morricone, Hans Zimmer, David Arnold and Richard Harvey; and has worked with musicians from diverse cultures like Roger Watson in the UK, the Australian guitarist John Williams, Iqbal Khan Pathan from India and Jorge Campos from Chile. He has contributed to the soundtracks of major films such as The Mission, The Chronicles of Narnia, The Honorary Consul, and James Bond films, while his compositions have been featured in TV shows like Law and Order, Coronation Street, and Midsomer Murders. In 2000, he was honoured by the United Nations High Commissioner as part of a gallery of distinguished refugees, celebrating those who have made significant cultural contributions to their host countries.
