Tell us a bit about your journey into the music industry?
Growing up, my family is definitely responsible for my exposure to different genres of music. We’d always listen to the radio as kids and have a sing-along for family events. So my relationship with music was always an emotional one, and how I love and appreciate that it could influence someone’s emotions and make people move!
As I got older, I found myself gravitating to musicians and that’s where I began having a better understanding of their process and passion in creating their art. And that really gave me all the motivation I needed to support the music industry in any way I could! I started with being a radio announcer, and now I have this amazing job with West One Music!

Can you talk about your role at West One Music Group and how it has developed?
I am a music and licensing consultant for West One Music in Malaysia, and we launched in January 2020. It’s a one-woman team in Kuala Lumpur at the moment, but with the blessings of technology, I get to have my weekly chats with our CEO Edwin Cox who is based in LA, and the West One Music team in London, and I love how supportive everyone is!
The year certainly was an unpredictable one, but it gave me the opportunity to learn so much about the music industry and I’m so excited now that things are beginning to kick start again and we will be able to see where it takes us in Malaysia!
What advice do you have for anyone starting out in the industry?
Always be brave to ask questions especially when you’re new to the scene, know that there is always room to learn new things as the industry evolves constantly, and finally, enjoy every bit of it!
What is your favourite album on the West One Music catalogue?
It’s difficult to choose one! There are so many amazing albums but there are a few I keep going back to!
Antologia De Cuba, Bailemos Ballroom, and Jazz in Paris – they’re the perfect weekend albums!
